If you’re shopping for a new pair of Muay Thai gloves, you certainly won’t go wrong with these known brands:
- Twins – Twins are considered the largest and most popular Muay Thai brand. For good reason, their products are of high-quality and are known to last for a long time. It also doesn’t hurt that they offer a huge range of products that allows them to cater to a broad market. Whether you’re looking for a simple pair of gloves, or one that has a fancier design, Twins has you covered.
- Top King – Top King is among the largest Muay Thai brands in Thailand. The brand and their products are also often ranked up there along with other top brands such as Twins. Although compared to Twins, Top King gear are much more readily available as they’re the preferred brand by most Muay Thai gyms and camps in Thailand. While Top King also has a huge selection of different styles and options, their gloves tend to have fancier patterns compared to others. If you want your gloves to stand out and not be the typical red, white or blue, then you certainly can’t go wrong with Top King Muay Thai gloves.
- Fairtex – If you’re looking to splurge a bit, then you may want to take a look at what Fairtex has to offer. Their products are considered premium in quality, look and feel. They also have a significantly wider range of gloves available compared to Twins and Top King. With Fairtex, you don’t get to choose between the same basic glove prototypes, but with different patterns or colors. Rather, their Muay Thai gloves are really different from each other, in terms of shape, engineering, and so much more. If you’re looking for a pair of gloves that have a premium look and feel to them, Fairtex is the brand to go.
Other brands to consider
Windy, Boon and Raja are all lesser-known brands that are also known to manufacture high-quality products. Raja, in particular, is a brand known for their slightly more expensive, but extremely comfortable Lambskin Muay Thai gloves.
Brands to Avoid
Generally, any pair of Muay Thai gloves that sells for less than $30 isn’t going to last you long and certainly aren’t going to feel comfortable in your hands. One low-end brand that’s worth mentioning is Thai Fighting, as their products are cheap and are of terrible quality. Another brand that you’d want to avoid is FBT, which is a Thai sports store that also manufacture their own Muay Thai equipment. Unlike Thai Fighting, whose merchandise is cheaper, theirs are actually quite expensive, but are also of low quality. Everlast, while a known brand, are also known for over-priced, low-quality gloves, so it’s best to avoid their products as well.
If it’s your first time buying Muay Thai gloves, then you should go big and buy from top names such as Twins, Top King and Fairtex. Buy from a physical store too, if possible, so you can fit the gloves first to see how comfortable they feel before buying them.
